The Gaugin Museum we were hustled through at high speed, while the guide continued to tell us about how she'd showed Diana Ross around the island once.

Bamboo; this is sort of like that Ansel Adams shot of trees, maybe.

More of the Gaugin museum. It turns out that there's not an awful lot of his work there -- there's something like half-a-dozen originals, a bunch of reproductions, and a lot of informative panels of his life story -- but if you want to see Gaugin's art, this is not the best place to go.

Papeete was closed when we got there, because it was a Sunday. Some bits of it really reminded me of French towns, unsurprisingly enough.

More of Papeete being closed. Also, the least glamorous nightclub you've ever seen. On the right, a sign to Fa'a'a, pronounced Fa-a-a..

Christmas? Well, they're trying, I suppose.

Papeete, still closed over here.

And this was closed, too. Not that we really wanted to go shopping or anything, but it was fairly unhelpful of them to drop us off when there was definitely going to be nothing to do.

Containers; yup, once again, we docked at a huge cargo port.

More containers. It was raining quite a lot that day.
